| chinese new year part 7: dragon heat |
[Feb. 7th, 2009|01:47 pm] |
Ran into a Nikon gear head at the dragon boat races today. "Have you got a grip for that thing? Oh no? This thing allows me to take six frames more per second." I know I would make a terrible sports photographer, because I come from a pretty old fashion school of thought where you should think about the shot you are taking at least long enough to compose, if not focus[1]. He was friendly enough, but I can't help but think how out of touch I have been with photography. I felt like a couple of years ago I was up on all the new wiz-bang technologies, but with the advent of digital everything is moving so much faster now.

- I am of course being unfair to real sports photographers, because in reality there is quite a bit of art to that and they really do need to compose their shots, they just have to compose them quickly!

Today I went down to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year (春節 or 農曆新年) parade. There were lots of dragons down there, like me; I’m a fire dragon (火龍). Hope everyone has a prosperous year of the pig :) |
