| hanalei beach |
[Nov. 1st, 2009|06:42 am] |
Our first island was Kaua'i, where we stayed in Hanalei on the north shore just a stones throw from this beach.
Each morning, Gail (who ran the B&B where we were staying) would make us breakfast of local fruits, a fruit smoothy and something speical like rice
kasha (rice pudding) or waffles.
We converted to island time pretty quickly and forgot the day of the week pretty quickly.

The sky turned purple at sunset one night. After the sun went down, on a clear night you could see the Milky Way in all of it's glory. |

The airports in Hawaii are just like LAX in that they have the same
sorts of chairs and they have the same announcer announcing the same
periodic announcements, expect instead of suffixing them with
“Thanks” or “Thank You” he says “Mahalo”. The announcer's
voice got me to thinking that if I ever had enough money such that it
was no object that I would love to hire Peter Cullen to be my
official narrator and voice to the world. Instead of talking to people
I would write something down on a piece of paper and hand it to Mr.
Cullen who would read it out in his best Optimus Prime voice. |
